THE FLYING MULLETS

“Life is short; pace yourself, but go hard early!”

ABOUT US

Established in 2021, The Flying Mullets is a FUND-raising and FUN-raising community, based in South Africa. Using a variety of sporting and recreational events during the year, the Flying Mullets #Band Together for a festive time, to make it count, and to generate funds for donation to a charitable cause. In doing so, we proudly don the mighty head band mullet; why you ask. . . because we can. And so can you!

Through our activities, we endeavor to support a range of beneficiaries with a core focus on non-profit organisations that provide healthcare or advance educational empowerment in South Africa, especially in under-serviced communities.

GET INVOLVED

The more, the merrier. Picture 100’s of smiling faces at the starting line of a riding, running, or walking event, mullets fluttering in the air, all raring to go for a good cause.

We would love to see you in the mix. The authentic mullet cut is encouraged and will be celebrated!

We are pulling together The Flying Mullet event calendar for 2023, so keep an eye on our upcoming events.

OUR CAUSE

All donations from our events go directly to HospiceWits, a palliative care provider that seeks to improve the quality of life of patients and their families facing life-threatening illnesses, through the prevention and relief of suffering by means of early identification and treatment of pain. Hospices support people with a wide range of conditions including cancer, motor neurone disease, cardio-vascular diseases, dementia, multiple sclerosis and Parkinson’s disease. More than 125,000 people give their time to volunteer for hospices each year. Find out more at https://hospicewits.co.za/.

OUR ETHOS

To laugh often and love much;

to win the respect of intelligent persons and the affection of children;

to appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to give of one’s self;

to leave the world a better place, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition;

to have played and laughed with enthusiasm and sung with exultation;

to know that even one life has breathed easier because you have lived.”

This is to have succeeded”.
